So, I went to Reading on Saturday to see Bhaleka and Karol. That was fun - but the day was hot ... so, when we walked around we got really tired - I've never sweat like that in England before. We were all joking that we were praying for the sun but we didn't want it that forcefully.

Yesterday, was also hot but I think better than it was on Saturday - today is suppose to be cooling down - thankfully!

I was really tired when I came back from Reading - because I walked all day - and I got impatient waiting for the bus so decided to walk home - it was only 30 mins walk - but the hot sun didn't make it so pleasant - I was positively drained when I reached home - so when I reached home all I did was reheat some food (chicken and dhalpouri - the last one *sob* *sob*) and then fell straight into bed.

Reading was a nice town - I think Bhaleka and Karol really like it - as with all English towns it is absolutely nothing like Milton Keynes. Reading is a bit like Oxford but without the very old buildings - and it is a nice pleasant place - since it has some countryside. But the train ride to Reading - there wasn't any countryside to see - it was a very boring train trip from Paddington to there - unlike when I'm going from MK to London - I always love looking at the countryside. I still have not seen the yellow/cream castle (or whatever it was) that I saw the time I was coming from dropping Ritch and Amalia at Heathrow - got to find out if that was a figment of my imagination.

That reminds me, both when I was going to London from MK and going back to MK from London, on Virgin, the a/c was not working on the train. In the morning it was ok - since the place was still cool - but in the evening - it was unbearable - there was one guy opposite me who was sweating bucket-a-drop - I mean my thermoregulation was pretty ok - no sweating - but it was hot. People were complaining bitterly - and from the canteen person on the train - people found out that the a/c was not working on the train -there was no apology from the train operators by the way for the a/c not working. But it seemed rather strange to me that both trains I came in the a/c will not be working (because they were two different trains - I remember the different seating!) Well ... one guy came along and was complaining about the heat in the train and was saying that in the "first class section was like a freezer". Well, that obviously built some feelings of resentment (I can very well at this point understand the French revolution!). I have a feeling that they weren't using a/c in the economy section just to bump up sales at their canteen - because everyone was rushing to get some cold drink (not me - I was coming off in 35 mins - felt sorry for those persons who had the longer journey!). I think with enough complaints, the a/c began to slightly work (not enough to cool you down but to ease the temp. a bit - because the guy opposite me was still producing rivulets - and people were still rushing for drinks). Then some people came in from a carriage behind us and went that our carriage was at least 10 degrees cooler than theirs and they were moving forward in hopes of finding a cooler carriage. Well, during that time the train pulled up in Milton Keynes, and when I got off there were people complaining to the operators about the heat - and there were some people in my carriage grumbling that they should have been given the option to choose if they would like to be on this train without a/c.

Well ... next time I'm going with Silverlink - not me and Virgin trains again ... I know it is faster and supposingly more comfortable seating - but I kind of prefer Silverlink open space seating - and there is much larger windows so I can look out and see if I can find my castle - I don't know if there is a/c on the train - but I know there are windows that can be opened - so, I'm sure I'll not suffocate and die of heat. Plus, I don't mind when Silverlink stops at every station, since the countryside is so beautiful, you always see something nice and new - wouldn't take the same same option from Paddington to Reading - because it is really boring - just a couple of old buildings.
