Meet the Fockers
Mood:  chatty
Now Playing: Mrs. Robinson (Simon and Garfunkel)
Topic: Movies
Went to see "Meet the Fockers" (can't believe I just wrote that name!) on Saturday with Anna-Lise and Tim. I've been having such a hard time with that "Fockers" word ... I can't bring myself to say it ... ok I did once ... to Luis ... but because his first language is not English ... I couldn't imply what it was! Angela can't see my hang-up over it ... but I tried telling her its because of Trinidad culture, that the 'F-word' is spelled sometimes with an 'o'. So, to me it is a bad, bad, bad word! But I guess some people have no problems saying the 'F-word' anyhow ... Luis says it fluently! Amalia said that in Trinidad they had to rename it "Meet the Parents II" - reckon big hullabulla because of the name ... especially us with our proprieties ...

Anyway, the movie itself was quite good ... very funny ... but they said it was 12A ... 12A!!! In which world ... there were too many sexual intonations ... at least 15 and over ...then again I might be stuck in the 1990s ratings still ... but no way in heck will I carry a kid of mine to see that at 12 ... had to have some serious editing. Owen Wilson also makes a guest appearance ... I completely forgot he was in the first one ... until I saw him again ... Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand made this movie funny ... Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller just had their same roles extended a bit (which it should be). If it wasn't for the Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand dimension the movie would have fallen flat. Since it is almost the same things that get repeated in this sequel. What works for the movie though, is that the sequel was so far back, that you forgot most of it anyhow, so it was like looking at a brand new film :D!
