Our Mission is to

· To improve the quality of life of the rural poor
· To ensure that women are given equal opportunity for development
· To develop leadership qualities among the rural communities
· To protect the rights of the Disadvantaged.
Introduction
The Guyana Rice Producers Association was established in 1946 through Ordinance #7 by His Excellency, the Governor of Guyana. . The organization function is to promote, protect and advance the interests of rice producers. The contribution of rice to the Gross Domestic Product of Guyana in 1994 was over 55 million US$ being almost equivalent to sugar and requires less foreign exchange for production and processing. The potential for this industry can be fully explored but sustainability remains with the farmers of Guyana.
The development of the farmers could only be achieved if this organization the RPA is
vibrant, well organized from the farm level through the community, regional and national
levels. The Association presently has limited capability to execute its purpose and needs
to develop its personnel and capabilities to be effective and sustainable. The major
program of the association is The information and Transfer program. There are three
others that are Representation, Rural Development and The Organization
and Financial Management programs.
